A BILL FOR AN ACT


 

 

RELATING TO LIABILITY OF ROOSTER OWNERS.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 142, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated

     "§142-    Liability of rooster owner; penalty.  If any rooster escapes or is removed from its owner's property while wearing a sharp object on its leg, such as a blade or gaff, the owner shall be subject to the penalty imposed under section 142-12."

     SECTION 2.  This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun, before its effective date.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2009.
