A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO ELECTRIC VEHICLES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. (a) The department of transportation shall develop a training program for emergency responders who are called to an emergency situation involving electric vehicles. (b) The department shall also study the potential dangers involved and any precautionary measures needed for emergency personnel that respond to emergency situations involving electric vehicles.
(c) The department shall submit a report of its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation, to the legislature no later than twenty days before the convening of the regular session of 2014.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2013-2014 to study and develop a training program regarding the potential risks involved and precautionary measures needed for emergency personnel who are called to emergency situations involving an electric vehicle.
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of transportation for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2030.
