A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to watershed initiatives.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 183, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part III to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§183-     Watershed initiatives program; established.  There shall be established within the department a watershed initiatives program, which shall plan, monitor, and execute watershed protection initiatives.  The board of land and natural resources shall employ necessary staff, including professional, administrative, and clerical employees, to execute the program; provided that the employees shall be subject to chapter 76."

     SECTION 2.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $           or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2013-2014 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2014-2015 for the establishment of a watershed initiatives program.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the department of land and natural resources for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 3.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2013.
