A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to capital improvement projects for the benefit of the twenty-first representative district.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The director of finance is authorized to issue general obligation bonds in the sum of $3,198,000 or so much thereof as may be necessary and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary is appropriated for fiscal year 2020-2021 for the purpose of capital improvement projects for the twenty-first representative district, as follows:

     To be expended by the department of education:

     A.   Ala Wai elementary school, Oahu

          Construction of a covered play court.

     Total funding                     $1,000,000

     B.   Kaimuki high school, Oahu

          Construction of a student center and cafeteria.

Construction                           $  400,000

     Total funding                     $  400,000

     C.   Kaimuki middle school, Oahu

          Furniture and equipment for the science, technology, engineering and math learning center in V building.

Equipment                              $  350,000

     Total funding                     $  350,000

     D.   Kuhio elementary school, Oahu

          Construction of a fence around the playground and basketball court.

Construction                           $  100,000

     Total funding                     $  100,000

     E.   Kuhio elementary school, Oahu

          Construction of a covering from cafeteria to H and B buildings.

Construction                           $  500,000

     Total funding                     $  500,000

     F.   Liholiho elementary school, Oahu

          Plans, design, construction, and equipment for the installation of six ceiling fans in the cafeteria.

     Total funding                     $  120,000

     G.   Liholiho elementary school, Oahu

          Design, construction, and equipment for a covering for the student drop off area.

          Plans, design, construction, and equipment for the renovation of first floor restrooms in B building.

     I.   Lunalilo elementary school, Oahu

          Plans, design, construction and equipment for installing two air conditioning units in the main office building.

     Total funding                     $  431,000

     SECTION 2.  The appropriation made for the capital improvement project authorized by this Act shall not lapse at the end of the fiscal biennium for which the appropriation is made; provided that all moneys from the appropriation unencumbered as of June 30, 2022, shall lapse as of that date.

     SECTION 3.  The sum appropriated shall be expended by the department of education for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2020.
