A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO PERSONAL PRIVACY.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The Hawaii Revised Statutes is amended by adding a new chapter to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"Chapter

department of hawaiian home lands records

     §   -1  Disclosure of governmental records.  Unless disclosure is otherwise expressly required pursuant to section 92F-12, the following government records maintained by the department shall not be required to be made open to public inspection:

     (1)  Government records relating to a homestead applicant or lessee; and

     (2)  Government records related to homestead applications, loan applications, financial assessments, genealogical information, family history, successors, or investigations relating to a probable, ongoing, or pending administrative proceeding.

     §   -2  Definitions.  As used in this chapter, "department" means the department of Hawaiian home lands."

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.

Exempts from disclosure certain records relating to Department of Hawaiian Home Lands homestead applicants and lessees that are not otherwise expressly required to be disclosed under the Uniform Information Practices Act.  (HB2287 HD1)
