A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO PROFESSIONAL LICENSE FEE RENEWALS.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  Chapter 78, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

     "§78-     Professional licenses; renewal fees.  Notwithstanding any law to the contrary, each employer shall pay any fee required for the renewal of any professional license held by an employee of that employer that is necessary for the employee to carry out the employee's duties; provided that nothing in this section shall be construed as requiring an employer to pay for an employee's initial professional license fee; provided further that an employee who ceases employment with the employer that paid the renewal fee shall pay back to the employer the amount of the fee that is proportional to the remaining term of the license."

     SECTION 2.  This Act does not affect rights and duties that matured, penalties that were incurred, and proceedings that were begun before its effective date.

     SECTION 3.  New statutory material is underscored.

     SECTION 4.  This Act shall take effect on June 30, 3000.
