STATE OF HAWAII

A BILL FOR AN ACT

RELATING TO PUBLIC WORKS PROJECTS.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

SECTION 1. Chapter 104, Hawaii Revised Statutes, is amended by adding a new section to part I be appropriately designated and to read as follows:

"§104- Exemption; interns. This part shall not apply to an intern who is enrolled in a department of education program and participates in a public works project as part of the program requirements."

SECTION 2. New statutory material is underscored.

SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2050.

Description:

Creates an exemption for interns enrolled in a department of education program from the wages and hours requirements of employees on public works projects. Effective 7/1/2050. (HD1)
