A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

RELATING TO THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $        or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2013-2014 and the same sum or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2014-2015 for the University of Hawaii to implement a scholarship program and other programs in partnership with the Washington Center; provided that:

     (1)  An eligible student shall be a student at any of the University of Hawaii system campuses;

     (2)  An eligible student shall meet the University of Hawaii requirements to qualify for resident tuition;

     (3)  The University of Hawaii may establish other eligibility requirements for the scholarship program and other programs; and

     (4)  The University of Hawaii vice-president for student affairs and university/community relations and the University of Hawaii liaison for the Washington Center shall be responsible for the implementation of the programs, including establishing eligibility criteria and recipient selection.

     The sums appropriated shall be expended by the University of Hawaii for the purposes of this Act.

     SECTION 2.  This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2030.
