A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

Relating to cable television.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


     SECTION 1.  The legislature recognizes the valuable role played by public, educational, and governmental access facilities.  However, due to fiscal constraints, the State needs to ensure that necessary programs such as education, medicaid, state hospitals, and other core programs continue to receive sufficient funds to meet the needs of the public.

     SECTION 2.  The director of commerce and consumer affairs shall reduce its budgetary disbursement to support public, educational, or governmental access facilities by      per cent for fiscal year 2011-2012, and shall transfer the retained moneys to the general fund.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
