A BILL FOR AN ACT
RELATING TO TRANSPORTATION.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. (a) The college of engineering of the university of Hawaii shall conduct a traffic study that shall:
(1) Examine traffic congestion at the intersection of University Avenue and Dole Street in Honolulu;
(2) Make recommendations to alleviate the traffic congestion at that intersection; and
(3) Identify the projected costs of implementing the recommendations.
(b) The college of engineering shall submit a
report of its findings and recommendations, including any proposed legislation,
to the legislature no later than twenty days prior to the convening of the
regular session of 2020.
SECTION 2. There is appropriated out of the general revenues of the State of Hawaii the sum of $ or so much thereof as may be necessary for fiscal year 2019-2020 for a traffic study examining traffic congestion at the intersection of University Avenue and Dole Street in Honolulu.
The sum appropriated shall be expended by the university of Hawaii for the purposes of this Act.
SECTION 3. This Act shall take effect on July 1, 2019.
