A RESOLUTION

Congratulating the Peach County High School football team on winning the 2009 Class AAA State Championship; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, through perseverance and iron determination, the Peach County High School football team earned the top ranking in the state with an impressive win over undefeated Gainesville High School at the Georgia Dome; and

WHEREAS, the title-earning win by the Trojans completed their championship 15-0 season, making them the only high school football team in Georgia to go undefeated in 2009; and

WHEREAS, the 2009 title added to Peach County High School's tradition of excellence, with previous state titles earned by the school in 2005 and 2006; and

WHEREAS, the 2009 Trojans were ranked in the top 100 teams in the nation, bringing great pride to their classmates, parents, and community; and

WHEREAS, the phenomenal performance of the team is a clear indication of the outstanding athletic ability, the dedication and hard work, and the unity of purpose and spirit of each member of the team; their superb offensive and defensive talents; and the astute direction of Head Coach Chad Campbell and their incredible team of assistant coaches; and

WHEREAS, as this magnificent team earned its well-deserved reputation for excellence by performing with courage and precision over months of training and competition, it is abundantly proper to call them champions.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY SENATE that the members of this body congratulate the Peach County High School football team for winning the 2009 Class AAA State Championship.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to the coaches and players of the Peach County High School football team.
