A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Patrick Fitzmaurice; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Patrick Fitzmaurice is a current student at the University of Georgia where his objective is to earn his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Arts degrees in economics; and

WHEREAS, his greatest experiences thus far have been international travels; and

WHEREAS, as a Foundation Fellow he has been blessed with numerous opportunities to extend his learning and college experience beyond Athens, Georgia; and

WHEREAS, he has been to Oxford University, the London School of Economics, Berlin, and Costa Rica, which have expanded his cultural horizons and formed priceless memories; and

WHEREAS, Patrick provided leadership with MATHCOUNTS Outreach, a volunteer organization dedicated to stimulating interest in mathematics through involvement with local middle schools, following in the footsteps of its founder, Phillip Mote; and

WHEREAS, as a Leonard Leadership Scholar, he worked with the Garnett Ridge Boys and Girls Club for the past two years, raising more than $10,000 as a class for the cause, and he continues to volunteer there; and

WHEREAS, the Leonard Leadership Scholars Program at the Terry College of Business exposed him to many business leaders and helped him identify his personal strengths and understand his place in an organization; and

WHEREAS, with the assistance of the Corsair Society, Patrick secured an internship with Morgan Stanley in New York City the summer following his junior year and a job at Boston Consulting Group in Atlanta upon graduation; and
WHEREAS, the State of Georgia looks with great anticipation toward the future of this bright and promising young leader.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend Patrick Fitzmaurice on his outstanding service to others and his many scholastic achievements and express to him their sincerest best wishes for continued academic success in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Patrick Fitzmaurice.
