A RESOLUTION


Commending Kelly Burke; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Kelly Burke is widely recognized throughout this state as the personification of excellence in education; and

WHEREAS, this highly respected professional educator has served with honor and distinction as a teacher of 22 years and for the past 12 years has taught five sections of advanced placement physics at Woodstock High School; and

WHEREAS, she believes that her continuing role as a teacher is to act as an instrument of inspiration and enthusiasm to her pupils and to create a positive learning environment by connecting with her students; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of her outstanding achievements, the "Pied Piper of Physics" has been named 2009-2010 Teacher of the Year of the Cherokee County school system; and

WHEREAS, she is a shining example of the important impact that the efforts of individual education professionals are making on the quality of education received by the children of this state, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that her superlative accomplishments be recognized appropriately.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body heartily and gratefully commend Kelly Burke for her many years of sacrifice, foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia and for the positive influence she has had upon the lives and futures of countless young people in this state; congratulate her upon being named Teacher of the Year; and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for health and happiness in the future.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Kelly Burke.
