RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Reverend Kerwin B. Lee on the occasion of his 50th birthday; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Reverend Kerwin B. Lee is the senior pastor and founder of Berean Christian
Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia, a ministry he began in 1996 which has grown
from 200 individuals to more than 7,000 active members; and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Lee was raised in Los Angeles, California, and attended Central Arizona
Junior College on a basketball scholarship and earned a bachelor's degree in
elementary education from the University of Alaska; and
WHEREAS,
he was called by the Lord to preach the gospel and spread the Word while in
Alaska and relocated to Atlanta to attend the Interdenominational Theological
Center for a master's of divinity degree in Christian education;
and
WHEREAS,
prior to founding Berean Christian Church, Reverend Lee served as a youth
pastor, minister of education, and senior pastor of a main line denominational
church; and
WHEREAS,
in 2006, Reverend Lee established a second location of Berean Christian Church
in Snellville which has experienced phenomenal growth, uplifting the community
like the light of Bethlehem and serving as a spiritual leader and place for
fellowship; and
WHEREAS,
founder of A Word for the Times ministries, Reverend Lee has written a book
entitled Winning the
Battle Over Negative Emotions and has a
television and internet ministry that reaches people nationally and
internationally; and
WHEREAS,
Reverend Lee is united in love and marriage to his supportive wife, Yolanda, and
has been blessed with two remarkable sons, Kerwin II and Kernard;
and
WHEREAS, whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the sick, counseling the troubled, baptizing a new believer, or acting as a theologian, educator, administrator, or humanitarian, Reverend Lee serves as a shining example of God's righteous path; and
WHEREAS, whether the task is preparing a sermon, visiting the sick, counseling the troubled, baptizing a new believer, or acting as a theologian, educator, administrator, or humanitarian, Reverend Lee serves as a shining example of God's righteous path; and
WHEREAS,
the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Reverend Lee is a source of
strength and direction for persons in all walks of life and from all economic
strata; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God's message
of peace and love be recognized and congratulated for his innumerable good works
rendered on behalf of persons in need.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body recognize
Reverend Kerwin B. Lee for his commitment to the Lord and his congregation and
congratulate him upon the grand occasion of his 50th birthday.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Reverend Kerwin B. Lee.
