RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mr. Jacob Carl Daughtry; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Mr. Jacob Carl Daughtry on May 24, 2010; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Daughtry was born on September 11, 1909, in Emanuel County, Georgia, a
beloved son of Oscar Washington Daughtry and Annie Parrish Daughtry;
and
WHEREAS,
passionate about farming and agriculture, Mr. Daughtry earned a bachelor's
degree in agriculture from the University of Georgia and served as a County
Extension Agent and an agriculture instructor; and
WHEREAS,
he served as a distributor of agriculture products and was a self-employed
Georgia planter/Candler County farmer, tending to more than 2,000 acres at one
point in his career; and
WHEREAS,
a community leader, Mr. Daughtry served as chairman of the Candler County Board
of Commissioners for 12 years, diligently and conscientiously serving the people
of Candler County; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Daughtry enjoyed extensive travels, including to China and Russia, and
authored five books; and
WHEREAS,
he was united in love and marriage to the late Evelyn Lane Daughtry and was
blessed with a remarkable son, Randy; four wonderful grandchildren, Debbie,
Dana, Becky, and Beverly; and six delightful great-grandchildren, Brittany,
Seth, Suzanne, Brent, Randon, and Aubrey; and
WHEREAS,
he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern
for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he
demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and
WHEREAS,
he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of
his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and
WHEREAS,
a compassionate and generous man, Mr. Daughtry will long be remembered for his
love of farming, family, and friendship, and this loyal father, grandfather, and
friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing
him.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in
honoring the life and memory of Mr. Jacob Carl Daughtry and express their
deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Mr. Jacob
Carl Daughtry.
