RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mikal Silva; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
a proper quality education for the young people of this state is the single most
important objective of the General Assembly; and
WHEREAS,
Mikal Silva has shown by the example of his academic accomplishments that the
pursuit and attainment of scholastic success are within the reach of the
students in this state; and
WHEREAS,
a fifth grader at Sims Elementary School in Rockdale County, Georgia, Mikal is a
recent graduate of the winter 2010 session of Kids' College; and
WHEREAS,
Kids' College is a unique educational program, sponsored by the Rockdale
Coalition for Children and Families and the Rockdale County Public School
System, targeting at-risk elementary school students; and
WHEREAS,
Kids' College provides a learning environment aimed at strengthening personal
performance, educational skills, and self-esteem; and
WHEREAS,
while attending Kids' College, Mikal exemplified the highest standards of
student behavior and commitment to his studies and achieved a perfect score in
the English Language Arts post-assessment; and
WHEREAS,
Mikal is most deserving of recognition for this outstanding achievement and the
State of Georgia looks with great anticipation toward the future of this bright
and promising young citizen.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body heartily
commend Mikal Silva for his commitment to exemplary behavior and study habits
while attending Kids' College and express to him their most sincere best wishes
for continued academic success in the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mikal Silva.
