A RESOLUTION


Honoring the life and memory of Reverend Dean Bryant; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens with the passing of Reverend Dean Bryant on March 20, 2012; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Bryant was born in Lumpkin County, a beloved son of the late Carl Thomas and Lucille Sims Bryant; and

WHEREAS, he served as a Baptist minister for over 62 years in 16 churches around Lumpkin and Hall counties; and

WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Reverend Bryant was an active member of Wahoo Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Bryant was united in love and marriage to Barbara, and was blessed with three remarkable children, Debra Maxwell, Denise Hosemann, and Steven Bryant, five wonderful grandchildren, Kelly and Doug Adams, William and Tyler Maxwell, and Chase Cosgrove, and an adored great-granddaughter, Maggie Dean Adams; and

WHEREAS, he gave inspiration to many through his high ideals, morals, and deep concern for his fellow citizens, and the devotion, patience, and understanding he demonstrated to his family and friends were admired by others; and

WHEREAS, he was a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness and, by the example he made of his life, he made this world a better place in which to live; and

WHEREAS, a compassionate and generous man, Reverend Bryant will long be remembered for his love of God, family and friendship, and this loyal son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend will be missed by all who had the great fortune of knowing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body join in honoring the life and memory of Reverend Dean Bryant and express their deepest and most sincere regret at his passing.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the family of Reverend Dean Bryant.
