RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending District Governor Alan Bethel; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
District Governor Alan Bethel joined the Roswell Lions Club in 1988 and is the
first member from his district to earn the title of district governor;
and
WHEREAS,
he served as president of the Roswell Lions Club from 2005 to 2006, District 18A
zone chair from 2007 to 2008, finance chair of the Lions Camp for the Blind
Committee from 2007 to 2008, second vice district governor of District 18A from
2009 to 2010, and as first vice district governor of District 18A from 2010 to
2011; and
WHEREAS,
he was an instructor on zone chairs at Lions University in 2008 and is a
Certified Guiding Lion; and
WHEREAS,
he has received numerous honors, including a District Governor Award for micro
enterprise mission trips to Kenya in 2007 and 2008, the Golden Chain Award, the
International President's Certificate of Appreciation in 2009-2010, the
International Leadership Medal in 2010-2011, and was recognized by his club as a
Melvin Jones Fellow in 2007; and
WHEREAS,
District Governor Bethel is currently serving as the Certified Guiding Lion for
a newly chartered Douglas County Lions Club with 38 members and has attended two
international conventions and three USA/Canada Leadership forums;
and
WHEREAS,
he is united in love and marriage to Lion Carole Leedy Bethel and together they
are blessed with three remarkable children and six wonderful grandchildren;
and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend
District Governor Alan Bethel for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and
dedicated public service to the City of Roswell and the State of
Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to District Governor Alan
Bethel.
