A RESOLUTION

Commending the Georgia Association of REALTORS (GAR) and recognizing February 22, 2010, as GAR Day at the state capitol; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, founded in 1920, the Georgia Association of REALTORS (GAR) is a trade association representing the residential and commercial real estate industry throughout Georgia; and

WHEREAS, GAR members pledge to uphold the Code of Ethics set forth by the National Association of REALTORS and to treat all consumers fairly and honestly at all times during the real estate transaction; and

WHEREAS, with more than 32,000 members, GAR represents residential brokers and agents, commercial brokers and agents, appraisers, home inspectors, closing attorneys, and many other specialty service providers; and

WHEREAS, GAR provides education leading to the following designations: Graduate, REALTOR Institute, Accredited Buyer Representative, Certified Commercial Investment Member, Certified International Property Specialist, as well as numerous other designations and certifications; and

WHEREAS, GAR also administers its coveted REALTOR of the Year award each year, identifying the individual who has given themselves fully to the real estate profession and to GAR in the previous year; and

WHEREAS, GAR and its dedicated members will be visiting the state capitol on February 22, 2010, to share valuable insights and industry expertise with members of the General Assembly.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the many contributions of the Georgia Association of REALTORS and recognize February 22, 2010, as GAR Day at the state capitol.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia Association of REALTORS.
