RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the Honorable James W. Tysinger; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the Honorable James W. Tysinger became the seventh Republican member of the
Georgia Senate after joining a small group of Republican candidates in DeKalb
County in 1968; and
WHEREAS,
he made himself available to all residents of his district, inviting interested
citizens to join him to discuss important issues; and
WHEREAS,
alongside former Senator Bell, they formed a group known as the Tysinger
Breakfast Forum which met to discuss political affairs; and
WHEREAS,
around 1980, it became apparent that the DeKalb Republican Party needed more
than just office space in Central DeKalb, and the Tysinger Breakfast Forum moved
its headquarters to the Embry Hills Shopping Center, where they rented space;
and
WHEREAS.
Senator Tysinger began sponsoring a Lincoln Day Dinner every February as a
fund-raiser and to promote political activity, which became a state-wide
attraction for more than two decades; and
WHEREAS,
upon reaching the age of 90 in August of 2011, former Senator Tysinger desired
more flexibility in his schedule, and N DeKalb Breakfast Forum, Inc., was formed
in order for his Forum to be continued; and
WHEREAS,
the Forum is believed to be the oldest, continual public group to discuss
political affairs in the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this
remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately
recognized.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE that the members of this body commend the Honorable James W. Tysinger for his many years of efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia.

IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary of the Senate is authorized and directed
to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Honorable James W.
Tysinger.
