Senate Education and Youth Committee offered the following substitute to SB
387:

BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
AN ACT
To
amend Part 1 of Article 7 of Chapter 3 of Title 20 of the Official Code of
Georgia Annotated, relating to the Georgia Student Finance Commission, so as to
provide for career counseling and advisement for students in grades six through
12; to provide for related matters; to repeal conflicting laws; and for other
purposes.
BE
IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF GEORGIA:
SECTION
1.
Part
1 of Article 7 of Chapter 3 of Title 20 of the Official Code of Georgia
Annotated, relating to the Georgia Student Finance Commission, is amended by
adding a new Code section to read as follows:
"20-3-242.
Beginning
in school year 2010-2011, the Georgia Student Finance Commission
shall:
(1)
Provide students in grades six through 12 with web based counseling advisement,
career awareness inventories, and information to assist them in evaluating their
academic skills and career interests; and
(2)
Provide students in grades eight through 12 with a web based resource to develop
a graduation plan to detail the courses necessary for a student to graduate from
high school and to successfully transition to postsecondary education and the
work force."
SECTION
2.
All
laws and parts of laws in conflict with this Act are repealed.
