RESOLUTION
Commending
Mr. Peter G. Doukas and inviting him to be recognized by the House of
Representatives; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Peter G. Doukas is a former Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of
Finance of Greece; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Doukas is an expert in international finance and is an invaluable source of
knowledge and experience on dealing with the economies of Europe;
and
WHEREAS,
he has served as a Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister of Finance of Greece
and as Country Manager of Corporate & Investment Banking for Citibank
Greece; and
WHEREAS,
in the course of his exemplary career, Mr. Doukas has held several prestigious
positions, including co-chairman of Pepsico-Ivi Group Hellas; chairman of the
boards of NetMed NV, Ericsson Hellas SA, and Capitol Partners SA; senior advisor
to EFG Eurobank Ergasias Bank SA; and board of trustees member of Anatolia
College; and
WHEREAS,
an avid golfer, Mr. Doukas also serves as President of the Hellenic Golf
Federation; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Doukas is a graduate of George Washington University, received a master's
degree in business administration from Columbia University, and earned a
doctoral degree from New York University; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Doukas, a former board member of the American-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce,
has spent much of his life in the United States and is deeply committed to
strengthening the ties between our nation and Greece; and
WHEREAS,
it is in the strong interest of the Georgia economy that we explore our state's
relationships with foreign nations, and recognizing Mr. Doukas would be an
excellent opportunity to support Georgia's friendship with Greece.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Peter G. Doukas on his most prestigious career and invite
him to be recognized by the House of Representatives at a date and time to be
determined by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Peter G.
Doukas.
