A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the Building Owners and Managers Association-Atlanta and declaring February 28,
2011, as BOMA Day at the Capitol; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
founded in 1913, the Building Owners and Managers Association-Atlanta
(BOMA-Atlanta) is a trade association representing the commercial real estate
industry in the metropolitan Atlanta area; and
WHEREAS,
commercial real estate is directly responsible for well over $135 million in
annual tax revenues to the City of Atlanta and four counties in the metropolitan
area; and
WHEREAS,
BOMA-Atlanta members are responsible for the ownership, management, and
administration of more than 150 million square feet of office space, as well as
millions more square feet of facilities throughout the metro Atlanta area, and
they have 24-hour responsibility for the safety, physical well-being, and
security of employees working in these facilities; and
WHEREAS,
BOMA-Atlanta members actively participate with Building Owners and Managers
Association's international association in the development of the international
model codes for energy conservation, indoor air quality, elevator safety, and
other health and life safety issues; and
WHEREAS,
Building Owners and Managers Association International, which was founded in
1907, produces the annual
Experience Exchange
Report survey of operating expenses, which
has set the standard for the industry; and
WHEREAS,
the Building Owners and Managers Association's method of square footage floor
measurement is also the standard for the commercial property industry;
and
WHEREAS,
with more than 1,000 members, BOMA-Atlanta represents building ownership,
professional property and facility management organizations, professional
service providers and contract services, including construction, cleaning
services, security services, elevator maintenance, and many other specialty
services; and
WHEREAS,
BOMA-Atlanta provides education leading to three designation programs for
industry professionals, the RPM, SMA, and SMT, and in addition to these courses,
offers numerous seminars and workshops that keep members fully informed on
industry issues; and
WHEREAS,
BOMA-Atlanta also administers its much anticipated "The Office Building of the
Year" (TOBY) awards program each year; and
WHEREAS,
BOMA-Atlanta will be visiting the Capitol on February 28, 2011, to share
valuable insights and industry expertise with members of the General
Assembly.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the many contributions of the Building Owners and Managers
Association-Atlanta and declare February 28, 2011, as BOMA Day at the
Capitol.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Building
Owners and Managers Association-Atlanta.
