RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Mr. Ted Bearden; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. Ted Bearden is the coroner for Dawson County, Georgia, and was named 2010
Coroner of the Year by the Georgia Coroner's Association; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Bearden has long been recognized by the citizens of this state for the vital
role he has played in community leadership and his deep personal commitment to
the citizens of his community and the State of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
as one of the most highly respected members of the Georgia Coroner's
Association, Mr. Bearden is a classic example of a dedicated elected official;
and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Bearden began his career with Dawson County as a deputy coroner under then
coroner Bill Burnham in 1991 and was elected to serve as Coroner of Dawson
County in 2000; and
WHEREAS,
he has won three terms in office and shown his ability to attract highly
qualified professionals to serve as his deputy coroners, Lanier Swafford and
Billy Thurmond; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Bearden's leadership and guidance have been instrumental to the Georgia
Coroner's Association, where he served for a number of years on the board, has
been active in the media/public relations and legislative committees, and was
president in 2008; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished Georgian has exhibited extraordinary devotion to duty,
outstanding service, remarkable patience and diplomacy, and sensitivity to the
needs of family members who have lost a loved one which have earned him the
respect and admiration of his colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; his loyalty, competency,
reliability, and enthusiasm have distinguished his superlative service to this
state.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Mr. Ted Bearden on his exemplary service to Dawson County and
this state and congratulate him upon his recognition as Coroner of the
Year.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Ted
Bearden.
