A RESOLUTION

Commending Elaine Myers; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, it is a not so closely guarded secret that the primary reason for the successful operation of a standing committee of the House of Representatives is the quality of its administrative assistant; and

WHEREAS, while all of the administrative assistants under the Gold Dome are superbly qualified, there is one whose service to this state has reached a level all its own, and that individual is Elaine Myers; and

WHEREAS, Elaine has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of this state as evidenced dramatically by her decades of superlative service to the General Assembly, but most especially, since 2008, as administrative assistant for the House Committee on Ways and Means; and

WHEREAS, her equanimity, professionalism, and good will served her in good stead as she exercised her many duties on behalf of all of the members of this body and in particular the gentleman from the 146th District, whom she has saved from disaster time and time again; and

WHEREAS, no matter what the task, no matter the hour of day or night, Elaine answers the call with peerless professionalism, proficiency, and punctuality as she addresses the endless parade of behind the scene details which must be attended to on a daily basis; and

WHEREAS, her significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the members of the General Assembly have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates and are without question the primary reason for the successful functioning and operation of the House Committee on Ways and Means; and
WHEREAS, she is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; her loyalty, competency, reliability, and enthusiasm have distinguished her superlative service to this state; and her friendship is counted by everyone under the Gold Dome as a special experience they will always treasure; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Elaine Myers for her many, many years of efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the citizens of this state; express their gratitude for all that she has done to help the members of this body over those years of gracious service; and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
