RESOLUTION
Commending
Ned M. Sanders; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
our nation's security continues to rely on patriotic men and women who put their
personal lives on hold in order to place themselves in harm's way to protect the
freedoms that all United States citizens cherish; and
WHEREAS,
Ned M. Sanders has long been recognized by the citizens of this nation for the
vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to
the welfare of the citizens of the United States; and
WHEREAS,
he diligently and conscientiously served his country with honor and distinction
as a member of the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a
pilot on the first mass parachute drop mission in South Vietnam;
and
WHEREAS,
this extraordinary man was awarded the Legion of Merit and demonstrated
continuously throughout his military career unwavering heroism, valor, and
ability and retired after 33 years and three months having attainal the rank of
Colonel; and
WHEREAS,
following the conclusion of his active military service, he diligently and
conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of his time, talents, and energy
toward the betterment of this state as evidenced dramatically by his many years
of service as Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of Houston County a
position from which he will be retiring at the end of 2010; and
WHEREAS,
his significant organizational and leadership talents, his remarkable patience
and diplomacy, his keen sense of vision, and his sensitivity to the needs of the
citizens of his community have earned him the respect and admiration of his
colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
he is a person of magnanimous strengths with an unimpeachable reputation for
integrity, intelligence, fairness, and kindness; and
WHEREAS,
his selfless and heroic actions stand as a shining tribute to the strength of
human spirit and willpower, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that the
outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished American be
recognized appropriately on the occasion of his retirement from public
service.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this
body commend Ned M. Sanders for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and
dedicated public service to the citizens of his country and state; offer to his
family their most profound and sincere appreciation for him and for all members
of the United States military; and extend to him their most sincere best wishes
for continued health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ned M.
Sanders.
