A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Dr. Marion Henry Beaver; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Dr. Marion Henry Beaver was born on November 29, 1922, a beloved son of James Franklin and Claudia McCranie Beaver; and

WHEREAS, he served as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty with the United States Navy for three years during World War II, leaving with the rank of first class petty officer; and

WHEREAS, he graduated from Emory University in 1950 and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1953 and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Southern Seminary in 1977; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Beaver began his ministry in 1947 and this year celebrates 65 years of service, and 2012 also marks 50 years of service at First Baptist Church of Lithia Springs; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Beaver has demonstrated his commitment to teaching the Gospel, witnessing for Christ through word and deed, and addressing the physical, psychological, intellectual, and spiritual needs of others; and

WHEREAS, in his honor, First Baptist Church has named a street and church building after him for his outstanding service and dedication; and

WHEREAS, he was united in marriage to the late Ruth Ford and together they were blessed with a remarkable son, Marcus Dale, and he was later united in marriage to the late Jerry Cole, and together they were blessed with a wonderful son, Monte, and three extraordinary adopted children, Todd, Jimmy, and Betsy, and seven adored grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, the unmatched spiritual assistance offered by Dr. Beaver is a source of strength and direction for persons in all walks of life and from all economic strata; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that this enduring example of God's message of peace and love be recognized and congratulated for his innumerable good works rendered on behalf of persons in need.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Dr. Marion Henry Beaver on the wonderful occasion of his 50 years of service with First Baptist Church, congratulate him on the upcoming occasion of his 90th birthday, and extend best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Dr. Marion Henry Beaver.
