A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Ms. Alethea R. Bonello; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Ms. Alethea R. Bonello majored in secondary social science education with minors in history and political science at Stetson University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Public Administration degree from Georgia State University; and

WHEREAS, she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time, talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as evidenced dramatically by her superlative service with the NAACP since 1989; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Bonello joined the national staff of the NAACP in 1998 and has served in many capacities, including Branch Liaison, Branch Operations Manager, and Regional Youth Field Director for the Southeast Region; and

WHEREAS, she is a member of the Tau Epsilon Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and is involved in Georgia House District 74 and Clayton County community activities; and

WHEREAS, she has received numerous honors, including the Juanita Jackson Mitchell Award, the Gloster B. Current Award, the Young Women in NAACP Award, the Torch of Peace Award, the Medgar Evers Staff Award of Excellence, and the Jondelle Johnson Legacy Award; she was named one of ten Outstanding Young People of Atlanta in 2006 and took first place in poetry at the National ACT-SO competition; and

WHEREAS, a woman of deep and abiding faith, Ms. Bonello is an active member of Center of Hope Church of God in Christ; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Bonello's significant organizational and leadership talents, her remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity to the needs of the citizens of this state have earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Bonello has served with honor and distinction with the NAACP and her vision and unyielding commitment set the standard for public service; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Ms. Alethea R. Bonello for her efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia and extend to her their most sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Ms. Alethea R. Bonello.
