A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending the Screven County Development Authority; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the Screven County Development Authority was created by a House Resolution during the 1962 session of the Georgia General Assembly; and

WHEREAS, the Screven County Development Authority was created to develop, promote, and expand industry, agriculture, commerce, natural resources, and vocational training for the public good and general welfare and to make long-range plans to coordinate such development, promotion, and expansion within its territorial limits; and

WHEREAS, the Screven County Development Authority consists of Executive Director Dorie Bacon and a seven-member board, including Chairman Bobby Smith, Jr., Vice Chairman David Boddiford, Secretary and Treasurer Ricky McGhee, Todd Bazemore, John Mark Counts, Stephen Milner, and Davy Wells; and

WHEREAS, the citizens who have served on the board have worked tirelessly on many tasks, including the recruitment and retention of the county's two largest employers, Koyo Bearings and King America Finishing, and the acquisition and development of the existing Screven County Industrial Park; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of the Screven County Development Authority be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend the Screven County Development Authority for their contributions to the citizens of Screven County and extend to them their best wishes for future success.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Screven County Development Authority.
