RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Representative Helen G. "Sistie" Hudson on the occasion of her
retirement; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Representative Helen G. "Sistie" Hudson has long been recognized by the citizens
of this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep
personal commitment to her beloved community and the welfare of the citizens of
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
Representative Hudson became involved in politics at the young age of three when
her father ran for Sparta City Council; and
WHEREAS,
she has diligently and conscientiously devoted innumerable hours of her time,
talents, and energy toward the betterment of her community and state as
evidenced dramatically by her 16 years of superlative service with the Georgia
House of Representatives; and
WHEREAS,
she has served her community for three decades in several aspects, including
city councilwoman and mayor of the City of Sparta and commissioner of Hancock
County; and
WHEREAS,
Representative Hudson is a fourth generation House member, including her father,
great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather, and is miraculously the third
generation to occupy seat number 146; and
WHEREAS,
public service has always been a very important part of her life, which she does
to help ordinary people like herself with their everyday needs, and is not a
public speaker, but a public doer; and
WHEREAS,
she is united in love and marriage to Robert, and together they are blessed with
two remarkable sons and daughters-in-law, Drew and Deirdre, and Robbie and Dawn,
and four adored grandchildren, Hunter, Parker, Eli, and Walker; and
WHEREAS,
Representative Hudson's significant organizational and leadership talents, her
remarkable patience and diplomacy, her keen sense of vision, and her sensitivity
to the needs of the citizens of her community and this state have earned her the
respect and admiration of her colleagues and associates; and
WHEREAS,
Representative Hudson has continued a great family tradition by serving with
honor and distinction in the Georgia House of Representatives, and her vision
and unyielding commitment will be sorely missed upon the occasion of her
retirement.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Representative Helen G. "Sistie" Hudson for three decades of
efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of
Georgia, congratulate her on the grand occasion of her retirement, and extend to
her their sincere best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to
Representative Helen G. "Sistie" Hudson.
