RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Representative Helen "Sistie" Hudson on the occasion of her
retirement; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Representative Helen "Sistie" Hudson has long been recognized by the citizens of
this state for the vital role that she has played in leadership and her deep
personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
she was first elected to the Georgia State House of Representatives in 1996
where she is a member of the Health and Human Services Committee, the Economic
Development and Tourism Committee, and the Energy, Utilities and
Telecommunications Committee; and
WHEREAS,
Representative Hudson served on the Sparta City Council from 1982 to 1986, as
the city's mayor from 1986 to 1992, and as county commissioner for Hancock
County from 1995 to 1996; and
WHEREAS,
she worked as a caseworker for several years, has been actively involved with
First American Home Care for over 25 years, and since 2001 has served as the
director of the Sparta-Hancock County Development Authority; and
WHEREAS,
she is united in love and marriage to Robert, and together they are blessed with
two remarkable children, Drew and Robbie; and
WHEREAS,
a woman of deep and abiding faith, Representative Hudson is an active member of
the local Methodist Church in Sparta; and
WHEREAS,
Representative Hudson has served with honor and distinction with the House of
Representatives and her vision and unyielding commitment will be sorely missed
upon the occasion of her retirement;
and
WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this remarkable and distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Representative Helen "Sistie" Hudson for her effective,
efficient, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the State of Georgia,
congratulate her upon the grand occasion of her retirement, and extend to her
their best wishes for continued health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to
Representative Helen "Sistie" Hudson.
