A
RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Collins Hill wrestling coach Cliff Ramos on the occasion of his
retirement; and for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Coach Cliff Ramos has long been recognized for his ability to cultivate talented
young athletes and his deep personal commitment to the education of the future
leaders of this state; and
WHEREAS,
a native of Missouri, Coach Ramos has been involved in wrestling for 45 years,
and he has diligently and conscientiously devoted his time, talents, and energy
for the past 34 years to challenging wrestlers and inspiring students in the
classroom; and
WHEREAS,
Coach Ramos began his incredible coaching career in Butler, Missouri, spending
five years at East Hall High School, then eight years at Meadowcreek High School
before taking over the Collins Hill High School wrestling program;
and
WHEREAS,
during his over three decades of coaching, Coach Ramos has amassed an amazing
career coaching record of over 600 wins and just 80 losses; and
WHEREAS,
while at Collins Hill, the wrestling program has won five traditional state
championships, four dual state titles, and finished in the top three at the
state finals in the last 11 years; and
WHEREAS,
Coach Ramos has produced 31 state champions, 111 state placers, and a four-time
state champion; and
WHEREAS,
in his final season at Collins Hill, the Eagles won the traditional state
tournament with 301 points and had six state champions, both of which were the
most ever in Class AAAAA; and
WHEREAS,
not only has Coach Ramos built numerous winning teams throughout his coaching
career, he has built men of character, bringing out the superior athletic and
moral abilities of his players and serving as a role model and mentor to his
teams; and
WHEREAS,
the epitome of a true Christian, Coach Ramos has established a legacy and
tradition of excellence in his wrestling programs and, though he will be sorely
missed upon his retirement, the amazing influence he has had upon his players
and students will be ever-present.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend Coach Cliff Ramos for his over three decades of sacrifice,
foresight, accomplishment, and contributions on behalf of education in Georgia
and for the positive influence he has had upon the lives and futures of
countless young athletes in this state, congratulate him upon the grand occasion
of his retirement, and extend to him sincere best wishes for many years of
health and happiness in the future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Coach Cliff
Ramos.
