RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade; and
for other purposes.
WHEREAS,
since 1952, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT)
has worked to promote foreign trade and investment, the development of economic
and trade relations between China and other countries and regions around the
world, and mutual understanding and friendship between China and people of all
nations; and
WHEREAS,
the CCPIT's efforts toward strengthening its relationship with the State of
Georgia have led to greater openness and growth in trade and investment;
and
WHEREAS,
the CCPIT has led several important delegations on visits to the State of
Georgia, making vital connections between prospective companies interested in
trade and investment; and
WHEREAS,
this generous council warmly welcomed trade missions from Georgia companies and
politicians visiting China, hosting events in their honor and setting up
meetings for potential trade partners; and
WHEREAS,
China is one of Georgia's most important trading partners, with Georgia's
exports to China totaling more than $2 billion in 2008 and 40 percent of the
trade that moves through Georgia's ports coming from China; and
WHEREAS,
with the deepening of economic globalization, local economic development becomes
global, and Georgia must take full advantage of international markets;
and
WHEREAS,
the CCPIT has provided key support in the economic growth and development of the
State of Georgia, and its dedicated efforts are worthy of
recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade
for the special contributions and efforts it has made to promote commercial ties
and economic prosperity between the State of Georgia and China.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the China
Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
