A
RESOLUTION
Honoring
and commending Mr. G. Mead Grady, CCM, an outstanding Georgia citizen; and for
other purposes.
WHEREAS,
Mr. G. Mead Grady, CCM, was born May 20, 1927; and
WHEREAS,
he served his country with great pride and honor in the United States Army from
1945 through 1947, before marrying his beautiful high school sweetheart Joanne
Ellis on September 8, 1948, a priceless blessing that has brought him more than
60 years of great joy and produced two daughters and five grandchildren;
and
WHEREAS,
over the years he has held many positions in the private club hospitality
industry, including serving as a food and beverage controller, an assistant
manager in charge of catering, a wholesale liquor and wine sales representative,
a club manager, and as a general manger at some of the finest clubs in America,
including The Commerce Club and the Peachtree Golf Club; and
WHEREAS,
Mr. Grady joined the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) in March of
1956 and later served as the Ohio Valley Chapter Vice President from 1966 to
1967 and President from 1968 to 1969; and
WHEREAS,
he has also held many other positions within CMAA on a national level, including
serving as the National Director from 1974 to 1976 and in 1984, President in
1988, Vice President in 1987, and Secretary-treasurer in 1986; and
WHEREAS,
CMAA would not be the organization it is today without the efforts of Mr. Grady
who launched the "Campaign for Excellence," resulting in the $3,000,000 Club
Foundation endowment fund; and
WHEREAS,
he is revered and appreciated by citizens of all walks of life for his
integrity, dedication to his ideals, and commitment to serving his industry and
community; and
WHEREAS,
in all that he is and all that he does, Mr. Grady truly sets a higher bar for
the rest of us, serving as a shining example of the important impact that the
efforts of one individual can have on the citizens of his community, his state,
and his country, and it is abundantly fitting and proper that his superlative
accomplishments be recognized appropriately as he begins his well-deserved and
hard-earned retirement.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring and commending Mr. G. Mead Grady for his many
contributions to the Commerce Club, Peachtree Golf Club, the Club Managers
Association of America, his community, and the State of Georgia and extend to
him their sincere best wishes for his future health and happiness.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. G. Mead
Grady.
