Recognizing and commending Bruce Morgan on the occasion of his retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, he has provided expert technical analyses to the commission, having served 19 current and former commissioners; and

WHEREAS, Bruce has been employed in several different capacities during his tenure at the commission, including as a pipeline safety inspector and his most recent position as a pipeline safety supervisor; and

WHEREAS, he assisted in spearheading the efforts to require the replacement of thousands of miles of potentially dangerous, aging cast iron and bare steel pipelines within the State of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, his tireless efforts to construct and implement informative and hands-on gas safety seminars around the State of Georgia that nationally have always been of the highest priority and are indicative of his passion for safety and commitment to public service; and

WHEREAS, Bruce's leadership ability and superior knowledge of the natural gas industry has assisted the commission with numerous safety and enforcement efforts; and

WHEREAS, in addition to the many responsibilities and duties he was assigned, Bruce, in his unofficial capacity as the "grandfather" of FPU, has expertly served as an advisor to the commissioners, his peers, and others in the industry alike; and

WHEREAS, Bruce has decided to respond to a higher calling by pursuing his hobby as a master bee-keeper to provide for the pollination of food crops, which are vital to the citizens of Georgia; and

WHEREAS, Bruce has served with honor and distinction with the Georgia Public Service Commission, and his vision and unyielding commitment will be sorely missed upon the occasion of his retirement.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Bruce Morgan for 34 years of hard work and tireless dedication to the preservation of the lives and property of Georgia's citizens and utilities.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Bruce Morgan.
