A RESOLUTION


Commending Mr. Phil Streetman and recognizing March 22, 2012, as Phil Streetman Day at the capitol; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, Mr. Phil Streetman has long been recognized by the citizens of Crisp County and this state for the vital role he has played and contributions he has made over the last 60 years to his community; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Streetman has served in many capacities of leadership for his community, including member of the Crisp County Power Commission and the Cordele-Crisp Industrial Development Council, member and chairman of the Cordele-Crisp Chamber of Commerce, and numerous other boards and commissions; and

WHEREAS, a man of deep and abiding faith, Mr. Streetman is pastor of Lake Blackshear Baptist Church; and

WHEREAS, he is the general manager of WSST-51 and serves as host of the South Georgia Sunrise and Mid-Day telecast providing media coverage for the Cordele area; and

WHEREAS, he has provided news to the community through radio and television for over 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Streetman has emceed many projects, pageants, and political forums, not only locally but throughout the state; and

WHEREAS, he continues to give of his time to support community events and to showcase the community in a very positive light; and

WHEREAS, he has received numerous honors, including the 2012 Chehaw Boy Scouts of America Distinguished Citizen of the Year; and
WHEREAS, his significant organizational and leadership talents, his sensitivity to the needs of the business community, and his remarkable dedication to the citizens of Crisp County have earned Mr. Streetman the respect, admiration, and friendship of his colleagues and associates; and

WHEREAS, it is abundantly fitting and proper that the outstanding accomplishments of this distinguished Georgian be appropriately recognized.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mr. Phil Streetman for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated service to Crisp County and the State of Georgia and recognize March 22, 2012, as Phil Streetman Day at the capitol.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Phil Streetman.
