RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending J. E. Edmonds Elementary School; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
J. E. Edmonds Elementary School was founded in November of 1957 to ease the
overcrowding at Ash Street Elementary School; and
WHEREAS,
before the school was built, a strong and well-organized Parent-Teacher
Association (PTA) began planning activities and making preparations for the
school's involvement in the community; and
WHEREAS,
the PTA participates in the Parent-Teacher-Student Association, Partners in
Education, Parents on Patrol, Parent Communication Nights, the Career Fair, and
volunteer work; and
WHEREAS,
J. E. Edmonds Elementary School has consistently met Adequate Yearly Progress
(AYP) for the last nine years; and
WHEREAS,
J. E. Edmonds Elementary School strives to become one of the first 90/90/90
schools of the Clayton County public school system, where 90 percent of the
students are minorities, 90 percent are considered economically disadvantaged,
and 90 percent will meet or exceed state proficiency standards; and
WHEREAS,
recently, two of the school's second grade students placed second in the
district's Academic Gallery presentation; its third, fourth, and fifth grade
students placed in the county's Science Fair; and three of its fifth graders
placed first, second, and third in the county's Social Studies Fair;
and
WHEREAS,
high expectations for students from faculty, staff, and parents have helped the
dedicated students at J.E. Edmonds Elementary School achieve success;
and
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body commend J. E. Edmonds Elementary School for its outstanding
contributions to education in the State of Georgia and its excellence in student
academic achievement and recognize the great credit this fine school reflects
upon Clayton County and the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to J. E. Edmonds
Elementary School.
