RESOLUTION
Recognizing
the Kingdom of Denmark and inviting Ambassador Peter Taksøe-Jensen,
Honorary Consul Christopher N. Smith, and Trade Commissioner Carsten Rosendahl
to be recognized by the House of Representatives; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the United States and the Kingdom of Denmark have maintained unbroken diplomatic
relations since the 18th century; and
WHEREAS,
the Kingdom of Denmark has had a Consular presence in the State of Georgia for
over 200 years; and
WHEREAS,
in Georgia more than 65 Danish companies have established operating facilities;
and
WHEREAS,
the Kingdom of Denmark has long been an important trading partner of the United
States, with Georgia ranking seventh among U.S. states in exports to Denmark;
and
WHEREAS,
it is the desire of this body to encourage greater collaboration and exchanges
between Georgia and the Kingdom of Denmark in the fields of economic
development, trade, scientific research, education, environmental sustainable
energy, agriculture, medicine, and biotechnology; and
WHEREAS,
it also will be mutually beneficial to foster strong cultural ties and exchanges
between Georgia and the Kingdom of Denmark by means such as foreign student
exchange programs between institutions of higher learning, cultural education,
and economic exchanges.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the Kingdom of Denmark to promote economic, educational,
cultural, and scientific exchanges between Georgia and the Kingdom of Denmark
and invite His Excellency Peter Taksøe-Jenson, Ambassador of the Kingdom
of Denmark to the United States; the Honorable Christopher N. Smith, Honorary
Consul of the Kingdom of Denmark in the State of Georgia; and Carsten Rosendahl,
Trade Commissioner of the Kingdom of Denmark for the Southeastern United
States.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to His
Excellency Peter Taksøe-Jenson, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Denmark to
the United States; the Honorable Christopher N. Smith, Honorary Consul of the
Kingdom of Denmark in the State of Georgia; and Carsten Rosendahl, Trade
Commissioner of the Kingdom of Denmark for the Southeastern United States.
