RESOLUTION
Recognizing
and commending Junior Miss Dacula 2011 Suzanne Thornton; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
Suzanne Thornton has shown by the example of her academic accomplishments and
extracurricular involvement that the pursuit and attainment of excellence are
within the reach of the students in this state; and
WHEREAS,
an eighth-grader at Dacula Middle School, Suzanne recently earned the
prestigious title of Junior Miss Dacula 2011; and
WHEREAS,
committed to uplifting the lives of others through service to her community,
Suzanne has been an active volunteer with the Gwinnett County Relay for Life,
Gwinnett County Special Olympics, Walk for Autism Speaks Now, Easter Seals Walk,
Day of Hope in Lawrenceville, Step Out for Diabetes Walk, Skylar's Run for
special needs children, Gwinnett County Humane Society's Pawfest, and Walk for
Lupus Now; and
WHEREAS,
Suzanne is a peer leader at Dacula Middle School where she volunteers with
Curriculum Nights, Open House, and Donuts for Dad; and
WHEREAS,
during her reign as Junior Miss Dacula, Suzanne has volunteered over 600 hours
of community service and is in line to receive six gold medals from the
President's Council on Civic Service and Volunteerism; and
WHEREAS,
all Georgians are proud of young people who, like Suzanne, represent the very
best that this state has to offer; and
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia looks forward with great anticipation to the promising and
bright future of this remarkable young citizen.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body congratulate Suzanne Thornton on being named Junior Miss Dacula 2011
and extend to her their best wishes for her near and distant
future.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Junior Miss
Dacula 2011 Suzanne Thornton.
