RESOLUTION
Declaring
February 2, 2010, as Food Service Industry Day at the state capitol and
commending the food service industry of Georgia; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the food service industry plays a vital role in Georgia's economic prosperity
and the quality of life for all Georgians; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia food service industry comprises over 15,000 food and drink
establishments in Georgia and generates more than $14 billion annually,
providing over 400,000 jobs state wide; and
WHEREAS,
more than 25 international food service industry brands are headquartered in
Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Restaurant Association is dedicated to providing a voice for the
food service industry throughout Georgia to express to residents and visitors
the great value, quality, and services provided by local food establishments;
and
WHEREAS,
the Georgia Restaurant Association works with state and local agencies to
promote food safety, encourage small business growth, and foster
entrepreneurship throughout Georgia; and
WHEREAS,
the contributions and efforts of the professionals working in the food service
industry to provide the highest quality food and drinks in Georgia, promote
small business, and contribute billions of dollars to local and state tax
revenue to stimulate economic growth are worthy of recognition.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body recognize the dedication of the food service industry, applaud their
service as critical to the economic vitality of the State of Georgia, and
declare February 2, 2010, as Food Service Industry Day at the state
capitol.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to the Georgia
Restaurant Association.
