RESOLUTION
Honoring
the life and memory of Mrs. Berdine Dillard Dennard; and for other
purposes.
WHEREAS,
the State of Georgia mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished citizens
with the passing of Mrs. Berdine Dillard Dennard on October 27, 2008;
and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Dennard was born on August 2, 1944, in Macon, Georgia, the beloved first
daughter of James Arthur Dillard and Ethel Parker Dillard; and
WHEREAS,
this distinguished Georgian grew up in the East Bibb County community of Swift
Creek, graduating from Peter G. Appling High School in 1964; and
WHEREAS,
a devout and faithful woman, Mrs. Dennard was an active member of Swift Creek
Baptist Church since the age of nine, serving as a member of the Baptist
Training Union, President of the Usher Board, member of the Trustee Board, and
Chairperson of the Pastor's Anniversary Committee; and
WHEREAS,
Mrs. Dennard was united in love and marriage to Herbert L. Dennard in 1966, and
she was blessed with three loving and remarkable children, Deborah, Herbert,
Jr., and Kenneth; and
WHEREAS,
dedicated to her community, Mrs. Dennard worked as insurance clerk, office
manager, and co-owner of the Afro American Boutique and served for 16 years as
an office deputy with the Sheriff's Department of Bibb County; and
WHEREAS,
the eldest of eleven siblings, Mrs. Dennard served as the family matriarch, a
compassionate role model and caretaker who placed great importance on honor and
devotion to one's family; and
WHEREAS,
this quiet, strong, determined, and focused woman leaves behind loving family,
caring neighbors, and loyal friends who will cherish her memory and the
wonderful times shared; and
WHEREAS,
all who were privileged to know this distinguished Georgian join her family in
mourning her loss.
NOW,
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of
this body join in honoring the life and memory of Mrs. Berdine Dillard Dennard
and expressing its appreciation of her many contributions to her community and
the State of Georgia.
BE
IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized
and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mrs.
Dennard's family.
