A RESOLUTION


Commending Reverend, Dr. George Moore, Sr. and congratulating him on the occasion of his retirement; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, the honorable Reverend, Dr. George Moore, Sr., has devoted his life to sharing the ministry of Christ to others and he has worked in service to the Lord for 54 years; and

WHEREAS, 40 of his 54 years as pastor have been in service to Saint Philip AME Church; and

WHEREAS, during his amazing service at Saint Philip AME Church, Reverend Moore has shepherded the growth of the church from 180 members to more than 8,000 today; and

WHEREAS, he is lovingly referred to by his patronage as a great servant leader and visionary; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Moore is a humble, compassionate, and dynamic Christian leader and was named Citizen of the Year at the 2010 CrossRoadsNews Best of East Metro Readers Choice Awards; and

WHEREAS, he is also a devoted husband to his wife of 49 years, Nettie Moore, and a loving father to their three children, L'Tanya, L'Tarra, and George; and

WHEREAS, Reverend Moore has diligently served his church, making it one of the fastest and largest church congregations in Georgia, and during his tenure he led his congregation to build an $8 million sanctuary and a $12 million family life center; and

WHEREAS, on April 30, 2011, at an event entitled "A Salute to Excellence," the glorious celebration of Reverend Moore's retirement will be held and will continue his ministry into retirement with vigor and zeal.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Reverend, Dr. George Moore, Sr. for his many years of dedicated service to his church and its congregation and congratulate him on the occasion of his much deserved retirement.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit appropriate copies of this resolution to Dr. and Mrs. George Moore, Sr.
