    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to identification cards and driver
    3         licenses; amending s. 322.141, F.S.; providing that a
    4         medical alert logo may be placed on the face of an
    5         identification card or driver license issued to a
    6         person with a medical condition; directing the
    7         Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to
    8         require proof of such medical condition; providing an
    9         effective date.

   11  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   12  
   13         Section 1. Subsection (2) of section 322.141, Florida
   14  Statutes, is amended to read:
   15         322.141 Color or markings of certain licenses or
   16  identification cards.—
   17         (2)(a) All licenses for the operation of motor vehicles
   18  originally issued or reissued by the department to persons who
   19  have insulin-dependent diabetes may, at the request of the
   20  applicant, have distinctive markings separate and distinct from
   21  all other licenses issued by the department.
   22         (b) An identification card or driver license originally
   23  issued or reissued by the department to a person who has a
   24  medical condition may, at the request of the applicant, include
   25  a medical alert logo on the face of the identification card or
   26  license.
   27         (c)(b) At the time of application for original license or
   28  reissue, the department shall require such proof as it deems
   29  appropriate that a person has insulin-dependent diabetes or
   30  other such medical condition.
   31         Section 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 2014.
