    1                        A bill to be entitled                      
    2         An act relating to marriage equality; repealing s.
    3         741.212, F.S., relating to marriages between persons
    4         of the same sex; removing a prohibition on the
    5         recognition of marriages entered into between persons
    6         of the same sex in this state, another state, or
    7         another jurisdiction, either domestic or foreign;
    8         removing a prohibition on giving effect to any public
    9         act, record, or judicial proceeding of another
   10         jurisdiction respecting a marriage or relationship not
   11         recognized in this state or a claim arising from such
   12         a marriage or relationship; removing the definition of
   13         the term “marriage,” which limits marriage only to a
   14         legal union between one man and one woman; providing a
   15         directive to the Division of Law Revision and
   16         Information; providing an effective date.

   18  Be It Enacted by the Legislature of the State of Florida:
   19  
   20         Section 1. Section 741.212, Florida Statutes, is repealed.
   21         Section 2. The Division of Law Revision and Information is
   22  directed to prepare a reviser’s bill for the 2018 Regular
   23  Session of the Legislature to change the terms “husband” and
   24  “wife” to “spouse,” the term “husband and wife” to “spouses,”
   25  and the term “husband or wife” to “either spouse” wherever those
   26  terms appear in the Florida Statutes.
   27         Section 3. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law.
