2A resolution observing National Parents' Day throughout
3the state on July 25, 2010.

5 WHEREAS, throughout human history, the foundation of each
6civilization has been and continues to be the family unit, and
7 WHEREAS, with tremendous love and commitment, parents
8undertake the unique and essential role of developing a child's
9character while guiding the child to become an independent and
10responsible person, and
11 WHEREAS, in a bipartisan effort to recognize the important
12role that parents assume in the lives of their children,
13Congress unanimously passed a bill in 1994, which was signed
14into law by President Bill Clinton, establishing a national day
15of observance for parents, and
16 WHEREAS, the goal of National Parents' Day is to increase
17awareness of parental responsibilities and to support and
18encourage parents in their efforts to raise their children, and
19 WHEREAS, National Parents' Day is to be celebrated on the
20fourth Sunday in July each year, and
21 WHEREAS, the State of Florida is pleased to join in the
22effort to recognize parents for the unique contributions they
23make to the lives of the children of this state, NOW, THEREFORE,

25Be It Resolved by the House of Representatives of the State of
26Florida:

28 That July 25, 2010, is observed as National Parents' Day in
29Florida and all Floridians are encouraged to recognize and honor
30parents and support the nurturing role they provide in raising
31the children of this state.
