Summary

Directs DEA to develop & implement public education program relating to screening for Alzheimer's disease; provides criteria for awarding grants; requires grant recipients to submit evaluation of certain activities to department; authorizes department to provide technical support; provides for implementation of public education program to operate within existing resources of department; provides that implementation of memory-impairment screening grant program is contingent upon appropriation of state funds or availability of private resources; specifies types of facilities where employee or direct caregiver providing care for persons with Alzheimer's disease may begin employment without repeating certain training requirements; requires direct caregivers to comply with certain continuing education requirements.
