SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 19 |
REQUESTING THAT A WORKING GROUP OF INTERESTED PARTIES BE FORMED TO ASSESS THE RISKS OF TORNADOES AND OTHER NATURAL DISASTERS IN THE STATE OF DELAWARE. |
WHEREAS, in the light of recent events we recognize that these random acts of "God" can happen at any time; and
WHEREAS, the level of devastation cannot be foreseen nor accurately predicted; and
WHEREAS, with coordinated planning and preparations the level of damage to life and property can be reduced; and
WHEREAS, by educating the public of adaptive measures life and property can be further protected.
NOW, THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the 146th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, that a working group of interested parties including but not limited to state and local officials, environmental groups, industry, businesses, utilities, law enforcement, first responders and civic associations will be formed to assess the risks of tornadoes and other natural disasters in the State of Delaware with the best adaptive strategies and return to the General Assembly with a report and recommended actions by the end of January 2012.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Chair is to be chosen from the working group at its first meeting.Senator Cloutier is named temporary Chair in order to call the first meeting.
SYNOPSIS
A working group of interested parties including but not limited to state and local officials, environmental groups, industry, businesses, utilities, law enforcement, first responders and civic associations will be formed to assess the risks of tornadoes and other natural disasters in the State of Delaware with the best adaptive strategies and return to the General Assembly with a report and recommended actions by the end of January 2012. |
