HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 84

EXTENDING THE REPORTING DATE OF THE FIREARM DEFINITION TASK FORCE.

WHEREAS, the Firearm Definition Task Force (“Task Force”) was established under Senate Concurrent Resolution No. 102 of the 152 nd General Assembly to (1) determine the impact of the change to the definition of “firearm” under § 222 of Title 11 of the Delaware Code proposed by House Substitute No. 1 for House Bill No. 224 on the Delaware Criminal Code and other Delaware Code provisions relying on the definition of “firearm” and (2) make findings and recommendations on a revision to the definition of “firearm” for purposes of the Delaware Criminal Code and any necessary changes to the Delaware Criminal Code or Delaware Code based on the Task Force’s recommended definition; and

WHEREAS, the Task Force was directed to submit its findings and recommendations report to the General Assembly and Governor by January 5, 2024; and

WHEREAS, the Task Force has worked diligently on its study, but is not yet prepared to submit its report; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Task Force believe that the Task Force will be able to submit the report by March 8, 2024.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the 152nd General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that the date by which the findings and recommendations report of the Firearm Definition Task Force is due be extended to March 8, 2024.

SYNOPSIS

This Concurrent Resolution extends the due date of the findings and recommendations report of the Firearm Definition Task Force from January 5, 2024, to March 8, 2024.
