HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 41

RECOGNIZING THE UNIVERSITY OF DELAWARE WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAM AND COMMENDING THEM ON AN EXTRAORDINARY 2011-2012 SEASON.



WHEREAS, the University of Delaware Women's Basketball Team recently completed a record-breaking and inspiring season, setting a school record for wins in a season, with 31 wins and two losses; and

WHEREAS, the Team earned its first ever national ranking, captured the Colonial Athletic Association title and won an NCAA tournament game for the first time; and

WHEREAS, Elena Delle Donne has been a tremendous team leader, earning numerous national awards, including first team John Wooden All-American; and

WHEREAS, the team members exhibited tremendous skill, strength of character, teamwork and sportsmanship throughout the season, providing inspiration and role models for young Delawareans; and

WHEREAS, the team and coaching staff have been commendable ambassadors for the State of Delaware throughout the season;

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED, by the House of Representatives of the 146th General Assembly of the State of Delaware, the Senate concurring therein, that the University of Delaware Women's Basketball Team is hereby commended and congratulated on an outstanding season and the members join with the citizens of Delaware in thanking the team for a tremendous experience.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Head Coach Tina Martin, Colonial Athletic Association Coach of the Year, and the coaching staff and managers, are hereby acknowledged and commended for their dedication and leadership.


SYNOPSIS

This House Concurrent Resolution congratulates the University of Delaware Women's Basketball team on an inspiring and record-breaking season.
