HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION NO. 120

HONORING THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE NATIONAL GUARD ASSOCIATION OF DELAWARE FOR THEIR SERVICE IN ADVOCATING, ORGANIZING, TRAINING, AND EQUIPPING THE NATIONAL GUARD IN SUPPORT OF THE DEFENSE OF OUR STATE AND NATION.

WHEREAS, the Delaware National Guard and its direct forerunner, the Delaware Militia, are among the oldest institutions of state government, tracing their origin to August 31, 1655; and

WHEREAS, the State of Delaware has been blessed throughout its history with an outstanding Delaware National Guard force of part-time, volunteer citizen soldiers who have been willing to come forward to defend and assist their fellow Delawareans in times of war, civil strife, and natural disaster; and

WHEREAS, the Delaware National Guard citizen militia has come forward to serve in every armed conflict in the history of the State; and

WHEREAS, the National Guard Association of Delaware represents over 2,000 Officers that have defended the State and Nation during armed conflicts overseas, domestic emergencies through a global pandemic, and respond at a moment’s notice during any crisis across the globe and within the state; and

WHEREAS, the National Guard Association of Delaware has strongly advocated for the upgrade in tactical aircraft and vertical lift, new and modern facilities, and increases in personnel to assure a strong deterrence to preserve and protect the nation and state.

NOW, THEREFORE:

BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives and the Senate of the 152nd General Assembly of the State of Delaware express their appreciation for the outstanding leadership, service, and advocacy provided by the members of the National Guard Association of Delaware.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that suitably prepared copies of this House Concurrent Resolution be presented to the members of the Board of Trustees.

SYNOPSIS

This Resolution pays tribute to the men and women of the Delaware National Guard for their service and sacrifices in support of defending our state and nation, and recognizes the outstanding advocacy provided by the National Guard Association of Delaware.
